The challenge
In agribusiness, time dictates the pace. At the peak of the harvest, the Syngenta unit in Uberlândia mobilizes up to 650 workers, including permanent and temporary staff.
Before 2019, the management of training, NRs (Regulatory Standards), and access clearances was done using Excel spreadsheets and scattered documents, creating a fragile operation with a high risk of data loss. Workers were stopped at the gate due to a lack of history, leading to repeating integrations from scratch, with about four hours of training wasted per employee. It became urgent to centralize information and give more autonomy to leadership.
“It's not a closed system. As we talk, we are able to meet the company's reality. The developers brought us exactly what we really needed.”
Fábio Pires
HSE Specialist - Syngenta Uberlândia
Main results
The implementation relieved the burden on the HSE team and transformed the unit's management:
-
End of rework with seasonal workers: returning temporary employees already have validated training — saving at least 4 hours per employee.
-
Gatehouse autonomy: the access control queries the system directly, without constant connections to the HSE.
-
Independent leadership: the manager accesses the system even when traveling and checks if the supplier's documentation is up to date.
-
Automatic blocking of non-compliant third parties: non-standard companies are systemically blocked, preventing access to the plant.
When data justifies investments
The facility has more than 200 fire extinguishers and 20 hydrants spread across 300 hectares. Through the Equipment Management dashboards, Fábio identified that routine inspections, carried out by volunteer firefighters, were being delayed due to field demands.
With this data in hand, management was able to prove the vulnerability of the operation and approve the hiring of a third-party company focused solely on these inspections.
The GAP solution
Syngenta implemented GAP's Third-Party Management, Employee, and Equipment modules. With the system running, management gained a level of scale and traceability that was impossible in the spreadsheet scenario.

Impact of the Partnership
Syngenta's history with GAP shows that EHS technology goes far beyond "document storage". Properly applied, it organizes processes, reduces rework, and restores productivity to the operation.
More than that, it brings real-time visibility and transforms safety into a strategic pillar, supporting more assertive decisions and risk reduction.
